"How much does product photography cost?" is usually the first question a brand asks, and the honest answer is that it depends on what you need. What we can do is show you our real Vidd Studios rates, explain which parts of a project are priced up front and which are quoted, and walk through the factors that move a budget up or down. Everything on this page comes from our own rate card. We don't quote other studios' prices or market averages.
If you already know what you need, skip ahead to the request form. Otherwise, read on.
Our published rates at a glance
Vidd Studios publishes three starting prices. Everything else is scoped and quoted per project.
- Half-Day Studio Commercial Production Shoot: $797. A production shoot of max 4 hours, up to 500 RAW photographs.
- Full-Day Studio Commercial Production Shoot: $1,997. A production shoot of max 8 hours, up to 1000+ RAW photographs.
- Photo retouching, image editing and color grading: $40-$60 / Image.
Turnaround is chosen on the request form: Standard (8 business days) or Rush (4 business days, rush fee applies).
Both production packages deliver RAW photographs. Retouched finals are the selects you choose to have edited, billed per image. That split lets you control the budget: shoot generously, then retouch only the images you'll actually publish.

What the half-day and full-day packages cover
The two packages differ in studio time and how many RAW photographs you can expect. A half-day usually fits a focused concept: one look, one set, or a small product line where you need a handful of strong images for a launch, a landing page or social posts. A full-day fits shoots with multiple looks, sets or products, or brands that want a wide library of images to use across channels over time.

What gets quoted per project
Not every job fits a package. Standard product photography (clean product flats of apparel, accessories and more), on-model e-commerce photography and larger or multi-day productions are quoted per project. We don't list a single price for them because the work varies so much from brand to brand.
When you submit the request form, you add the specific items for your job, choose your image types and pick a preferred date and time. We then send a full quote, which might include an estimate of production shoot, raw images and final deliverables. That way you pay for your actual project, not a generic bundle.
Factor 1: Number of products and images
The biggest driver of cost is volume: how many products you have, and how many images you need of each. Ten products with one front view each is a very different job from ten products with front, back, side and detail shots in three colorways.
Before you ask for a quote, count:
- The number of unique products (SKUs) and colorways.
- The angles you need per product: front, back, side, detail or close-up.
- How many final, retouched images you plan to publish.
A clear count helps us suggest the right amount of studio time and gives you a realistic retouching estimate at $40-$60 per image. Our guide to preparing products for an e-commerce photoshoot includes a simple shot-list approach.
Factor 2: Flats vs on-model images
The type of image matters as much as the count. Product flats are a single product photographed cleanly and consistently, which is ideal for catalog grids. Once the lighting and setup are dialed in, many similar items can be photographed efficiently.
On-model images show the product with a model: full-body, half-body, hands or headshot. They show fit, scale and how a piece is worn, but they involve more people, more setup and more time per look. Many online stores use both: flats for consistency and on-model images to help customers picture the product on themselves.
A third option is AI-assisted imaging, where real photos of your product are placed on AI-generated models or in any setting. Read what AI-assisted product imaging is and when to use it to see whether it fits your project.
Factor 3: Models, stylists and set
Whenever people beyond the photographer are involved, the scope grows. Models, hair and makeup, wardrobe styling, props and set building all add time and coordination. Because these needs differ so much between projects, we include them in your custom quote rather than publishing fixed prices.
A few ways to keep this part of the budget under control:
- Lock your concept and references before the shoot so time goes to shooting, not deciding.
- Group looks that share a set or styling so changeovers are kept to a minimum.
- Decide which products truly need on-model images and which can be shown as flats.
Factor 4: Retouching and post-production
RAW photographs are the starting point, not the finished product. Most images need retouching before they can be printed or shared online. At Vidd Studios, photo retouching, image editing and color grading cost $40-$60 per image. The request form lets you pick a volume range, from small batches up to large sets.
Retouching is where a lot of budget planning happens. If you need 40 finals, you can estimate the retouching line directly from the per-image rate. Choosing only your best selects, instead of retouching everything shot, is one of the simplest ways to spend wisely.
Factor 5: Turnaround time
Timing affects cost too. Standard turnaround is 8 business days. Rush turnaround is 4 business days, and a rush fee applies. If you're working toward a product launch, leaving room for Standard turnaround plus your own review avoids rush costs.
Factor 6: How the images will be used
Think about where the images will live: your online store, a marketplace listing, a paid ad campaign, a lookbook, print or social media. Usage shapes the brief: how many crops and formats you need, whether you need hero campaign images or clean catalog shots, and which channels the images are licensed for. Share the intended usage in your request so the quote reflects your actual plans.
How to get an accurate quote
The more detail you send, the more accurate your quote will be. When you fill out the request form, include:
- Your product list with counts, colorways and the image types you need (flats, on-model, commercial).
- A link to asset guidelines, a moodboard or a shot list (Google Drive, Dropbox or WeTransfer).
- Your preferred shoot date and time, and your turnaround choice.
- Roughly how many images you want retouched.
We will reply with a full quote covering the production shoot, raw images and final deliverables, so you know the cost before anything is booked.
The bottom line
Product photography costs in Los Angeles come down to how much you're shooting, what kind of images you need, who needs to be on set, how many images get retouched and how fast you need them. At Vidd Studios, the published starting points are clear: $797 for a Half-Day, $1,997 for a Full-Day, and $40-$60 per image for retouching. The rest is scoped to your project.
